Digi's iPhone 3GS Is Finally OUT!

So finally the day is here. Digi finally announced the packages available for their iPhone 3G/3GS. I think a lot of people are quite eager waiting for the announcement. As everyone is waiting what is their promotion and how good it is compared to the current offered by Maxis. So here goes:

Here's Digi Plan and below is the one from Maxis which I upload for you to compare for yourself.

And since they know Digi is coming out with iPhone, they have this RM200 'subsidy' for all. Haha!!!

This is for their iPhone 3GS - 32GB

And iPhone 3GS - 16GB

So is it as good as it seemed. Well it all depends on your preference. I mean if you are a new user, you might go with Digi as their plan is slightly cheaper compared to Maxis but not too much. The main highlight would be the massive data internet usage everyone that you can get. But do we need that much of data? I mean, I am using 500MB per month and I don't even used half of it sometimes. Well, unless you wanted to use your iPhone as a modem and go online with your laptop that is. So it's all on your need. But at least you have another choice now rather than sticking to the same old Maxis.

TM's New HSBB - UniFi

If you are reading the news lately or been following updates on the broadband happenings, you would had heard about HSBB or High Speed Broad Band by TM. Finally it's been revealed by TM on Wednesday night of their new services called UniFi. The packages are divided into three category and is differentiated by it's speed (doh!) and monthly payment. So let's see what's their offer.

As you can see above, those are the standard services that comes together with the packages. You got a wireless phone, Hypp TV Channels, wireless router modem namely. But the difference here with the conventional Streamyx other than the speed is the download/upload speed. The download/upload speed for UniFi are the same whereas for Streamyx it's half of the other. Which means that if I am subscribing the 5Mbps, I am downloading and uploading at the same speed. The packages are divided into three they called VIP5, VIP10 and VIP20. VIP5 gives us 5Mbps, VIP10 is 10Mbps and VIP20 is 20Mbps. The price range are RM149, RM199 and RM249 monthly.

What is Hypp TV Channel you ask? Well it's IP-TV or Internet Protocol TV. Now you can watch TV online using broadband. What are your options? Well just check out the channels on top. Not a very wide selection as ASTRO but it's getting there I hope. There is a hot debate on the unbundled issue of the IP-TV but TM officials had stated that it's not an a la carte that we can choose as it's already bundled together.

There are also a lot of hot words flying in their Tweeter, when TM annouced that they are going to have a cap monthly (even daily) on the download. VIP5 is cap at 60GB, VIP10 at 90GB and 120GB for VIP20. But the cap had been suspended till further notice currently as TM received a lot of feedbacks from the users. Currently there are four areas in Klang Valley with 311,000 premises passed and has 500 trials users. The areas are mainly, Bangsar, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Shah Alam. You can check at their website, http://tm.com.my/ to check your location availability. Let see how it goes for this new broadband. RM149 per month is still acceptable for me as I am not subscribing ASTRO and will not be doing it too. So it's still acceptable for me. How bout you?

Circuitous - Another Multitasking Apps

As always, I will pop up once in a while to introduce some new apps for iPhone/iPod users which I think worth mentioning. But as you all know, most of the apps which I mentioned will need your gadget to be JB, as it is only available from Cydia. The apps which I am introducing today would be another multi-tasking apps called Circuitous. So why do we need another multitasking apps sincei we already have ProSwitcher or Multifl0w you ask. Well currently I am using ProSwitcher and to be frank, I am quite satisfied with the features and all. First, I would just wanna explain a bit to those new in these multitasking apps. If you'd been using your iPhone/iPod for a while, you would realized that the gadget lacks a multitasking feature which enable you to switch over among apps without having to close and opening it again. Check out the video below for the installation.

So what's so special bout this new app? Dan Zimmerman, the app creator had called it 'Custom App Switcher'. By using Circuitous, we are able to stay active on the current page and still able to switch over to previous active apps. Whereas, for ProSwitcher, the current page would be deactivated as the background while you are scrolling through the previous apps page. Circuitous will display the previous apps on a vertical scroll bar on the right of your screen making it easy to access and manage. You can customized how you wanna activate Circuitous via iPhone Setting page. You can activate Circuitous by double tapping the Home button, or slow pressing on the Sleep or even snipping your fingers cross the screen (i.e maximizing a page). You can download Circuitous (v1.1) from Cydia and Rock for FREE. Enjoy~!

It's 80% Completed Now~!

Some updates on my future home since it's been a while that I last posted any updates on it. It's now 80% completed as I had just received another progressive letter advising me that the roads are all completed and another withdrawal are in accordance. In other word, my next letter would be informing me of Vacant Possession or VP as they called it. They are now in the midst of applying/preparing for the CF/OC and by the looks of it, I would be receiving my keys not later than mid of the year. Gosh~ this is really fast, well at least earlier than expected or stated on the S&P paper which I signed last year April. Was more happy when I was read from our forum that our lot had appreciated to 460K for IR2 (my phase) even before we get our keys. But we are worried too that the price would deter future buyers as it's over price at the end of the day. Anyhow, fingers cross and time to save, save and save more money now.

Daybreakers

The most precious resources in the year 2019, is US. That is the tagline of the movie. Why? Well the story goes, in the year 2019, human are 'harvest' for their blood as Vampires took over the world. Yes, it's a scary and a bit insane theory but just follow me for now. So the world would be empty in the morning and when the sun sets down, all the people (Vampires) will come out to work and do their normal routine just like now. Just imagine that morning is night and vice versa. It all started when some catastrophic event happened during the past where human are all transformed into Vampires. Vampires consists of 95% population in the world and the 5% human are hunted down to cater for their survival.

The story tells how a hematologist, Dr. Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawk) is creating a serum or artificial human blood as their blood bank is coming to a crucial point. What will happen when Vampires don't have enough blood to drink, well their insanity goes and they will slowly transform into a bat look-a-like monster who will just kills for blood. A small fraction of human lead by man who called himself Elvis (Willem Dafoe), was a vampire before but had transformed back to human after an incident. So they acquired Dr. Edward's help to find the cure. And they are racing against time as the Senator had ordered all human to be captured and the world is going wild as more and more vampires are transforming into monsters as the blood supplies are running low.

It's not an extremely good movie but it's good enough for me to watch it during the weekend at home. The whole idea of the world being lived among vampires and us human being the minority and hunted down is a very disturbing idea. I don't think that would happen but heck, that is why movies are here for. Acting skills are normal nothing spectacular and the story lines are quite simple so no need to think too much. (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)

Am I Distracting?

Am I distracting? Oh, my. Is this good or bad? haha! Was doing my usual class when one of the instructor kept messing up some of the chorey and she jokingly said I was distracting her, so she can't concentrate. She said it only happens when I am doing her class. Both of us laugh bout it. No I am not misleading her into doing the wrong chorey at all. Duh~! Anyhow, it was a praised that she asked me to try out for instructor-ship that day. This is not the first time but I always smile and say NO. My standard reply or reason would always be, I don't wanna feel committed in coming to gym to teach and forcing myself to smile even though I have a bad day. As a member I have no pressure and can just do whatever I like. That is why I salute to the instructors as they are so good in what they do. I can fool around with my gym-mates and it's really nice doing something I love everyday but heck, teaching it is another story.

Street Fighter IV on iPhone

Finally the game which I am waiting for is available now in my iPhone. The game that I am referring to is Street Fighter IV. I think those from my 'era' of time should be familiar with the name. It's one of the most original fighting arcade game. Although not all the characters are accessible from the iPhone version but they do have 8 characters to choose from. Those famous all time character like Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chun-Li, Blanka, Dhalsim, M.Bison and new comer Abel.

Ryu performing his Ultra Combo move
As always, my favorite character would be Ryu and occasionally Ken are a show stealer as their combos are so neat and nicely perform as you can see from above. Again it's not 100% representation or copy of the original version from PS3 but you it's enough to make you go WAAAAH~~!!!!

This is the actual graphics from the phone if you're wondering how it is. I can say that the graphics and sounds are solid as it can be. You must think that the controls would be difficult and slow response but trust me it's not. The controls are easy to get used to and there isn't any lag which I can say from my game-play. Thanks to the powerful processor by Apple, we have a good time playing some really cool 3D games. If you want to check out the apps you can go to here. The price for the game is USD9.99. Hopefully they will bring in more character for their next update on the game. I would say that I give two thumbs up for this game and I know I will be enjoying myself with it for a long time. At least it can reduce my need to get a PS3 unit that soon. Enjoy~!

Papago M6 Pro for iPhone

One missing apps which I always yearned for my iPhone compared to my previous phone would be the navigation feature. Don't get me wrong, iPhone has a built-in GPS and it's an advance too. Since Google Map uses data and it's not viable for me to used it while oversea as data roaming cost a lot. Other previous navigation apps like Sygic, NDrive, CoPilot and even TomTom lacked the functionality or outdated maps which deterred me from using them. But finally I found Papago M6 Pro for iPhone. It support both 3G and 3GS with the latter being running more smoother.

Papago Junction View
One of the key feature would be the junction view feature. It shows the view of the junction that you are about to turn into so that you won't get confused if there are more than one exit nearby. This is very useful if there are more than one exit next to each other.

Papago 3D Building
What is more obvious than a 3D building of the place that you are looking for. Even though you're not going to that building but at least you can treat it as a landmark when you're looking for the one you're going to. But I do get irritated when the building block the road behind of it. But I can always rotate the map so it's still alright.

Papago Lane Assist
I had just tested this feature out last weekend as I was turning into a Kota Damansara. It would tell me which lane to use when I am nearby the intersection. This is also a good feature.

Since Garmin is not supported in iPhone so I decided to give Papago a try and it doesn't disappoint me a bit. And I do dare to say that I am more comfortable using Papago than Garmin now. It loads more faster (GPS positioning) and it won't hang on me. Even if browsing through the map it doesn't lag (maybe due to the iPhone 3GS feature) and the graphics are superb. If you don't like 3D you can always change it back to 2D images. You can search for nearby POIs and also Road searches similar to Garmin. But you can't change the boring triangle image though. But that is OK with me.

The price for the apps maybe a bit steep, USD19.99 for Malaysia & Singapore but it worth the money, and they give free updates on the software from time to time. You can download the maps too from an online forum which I am doing now. Or you can always buy the Taiwan edition for half the price and download the Malaysia maps into it manually but the language would be in Chinese though. What is the down side? Well it drains your battery really fast. So be prepare to have a car charger for your iPhone if you're using it for a long period of time. And do place it nearby the air cond as it will stop charging if the phone gets too hot  (to  protect the phone from over heating feature). Have fun~!

Double McSpicy

I first saw this when I arrived over Singapore last week. McDonald's Double McSpicy. OMG~! I had to try this one before I left. But I didn't have the chance to try it out until the night I left. I was at the airport and there was still time to spare and there were a McDonald restaurant. Coincidence? I think not. It's FATE. lolx! Since I had dinner, so I decided to just have the burger and not the whole set.

Like the name goes, Double McSpicy. There are two large piece of fried whole drumstick meat put on top of each other. It was really large and I was Lovin' It~! I was soooo full after finishing the whole burger. The staff was so nice to offer me a cup of water to cleanse my thirst. I am not sure if this is for a long run or limited time only but I can say that I tried it now. Now all I need is to try their Mega Big Mac. 4 piece of beef patties. Yummy!!!

Singapore Computer Fair 2010

So what I did on my last day in Singapore? Well I'd just found out that there's an ICT show happening on the same day. It was in Suntec City so I had decided to go over and check it out. It's some sort like our own PC Fair in Malaysia. It was really a sight when I arrived. Since the mall is really large, so there were able to cope for the amount of crowd.

There were a lot of people similar to ours and there are over 3 floors of halls packed with people. But one distinct different which I noticed is that they do not have those ladies in skimpy dress like the one in PC Fair.

I even spotted some aliens in the exhibitions. Maybe they are lost? : P

This is one of the booth which I wanted to visit. It's the booth which display the arcade console such as PS3 and XBox 360. There are plenty of offers and promotions but after considering the warranty issue where I need to bring the console back to Singapore, deterred me from getting one. Sigh~!

Where there's console, there's games. Plenty of them if I may add.

And here are more games which are all on sales.

Even games from PS3 are on sales. Buy I don't have a console yet. Sigh~!!! Need to get myself one quick.

For those audio freaks, here's a brand which you don't really see that much locally, Audio-Technica. There were so much stuff on promo and on sales. I was almost tempted to get myself another unit of iPhone dock which was on sales and not available in Malaysia but that is also the sad part as I need to send it back to Singapore for warranty. Another item would be a GPS navigator. They had Garmin and Papago on sales. But at the end of the visit, I'd just bought a cable for my iPhone and nothing else. Weird? Ya I know.

Orchard Trip (So What's New?)

It was my second day on my business trip and I am running out of place to visit. Orchard again? Oh well, what the heck. Since it's just a few block away from my hotel, so what the heck. Had the taxi drop me down in front of Lucky Plaza and walked over to the new Ion Orchard. Like all visitors do, took out my camera and went snapping away and the first would be this tall count-down counter for Singapore 2010 Youth Olympics.

I was told that this is the newest shopping mall coming up from Orchard Road. But this is my third trip over already. Anyway, the design of the place is really unique and a sight.

As always, big designer's name like GA and CK are being shown right in front of the shopping mall.

Another view of the main entrance. Trust me, there are a lot of people taking pictures right in front of the entrance.

This might not be new but still a good place if you're looking for some well known brand and good food. But then again, there are a lot of good food stall in all these malls.

This is also another favorite mall for me as the exterior design of the mall is so nice and out standing. Felt like going into some nigh club while going up the escalator. hehe~!

Sentosa World Resort Tour

First day of my trip to Singapore, I had visited Sentosa island. No, not for the theme park. Since I was staying nearby I thought why not paying the new Sentosa World Resort a visit. Since it's half Malaysian own. So I took a cab and paid around SGD6 from my hotel all the way to the entrance of the resort, cheap.

This is one of the entrance the resort. I think this is where the members register and check into the resort.

This is the main entrance to the casino. Didn't seemed much people and from the sound of it, sound like a lot of foreigners (from Malaysia & China). Do remember that you need to bring along your passport to verify that you're not local. Work permit will also do. Why? Cause Singaporean would need to pay SGD100 to enter the casino. Didn't really get it, why built it in the first place if you don't want people to go in. Duh?!

Yes, that is me 'carrying' the world on my back like Atlas did. LOLX!!! Seemed like this is one of the main attraction of the place (for the time being) as the globe is rotating (duh!). So we need to wait for the whole UNIVERSAL to appear before snapping the picture. But I don't think that is possible though. Cause it's too long. But you can try. Thanks to the girls who offered to take the pictures for me. hehe!

Me again in front of the entrance to Universal Studio. Why am I not inside? Cause they will only start operational from 18th this month. But you can buy the tickets now and come back later. They have peak and off-peak prices. One day pass is SGD72 and two days for SGD118, children for SGD55 and SGD88 while Senior Citizen (65 and above) are SGD 36 and 5SGD58 respectively. They also have annual Fun Pass and Superstar Pass whatever that means for SGD318 and SGD1098 respectively.

Other than that, they also have this Hershey's Chocolate World outlet. What do they sell?
A whole range of Hersey's chocolate. They has a large store so you can browse through and buy what you fancy.

This is Hersey's Kisses soft pillow. So cute, like a piece of SH*T. lolx!!

Just hear from the news that the response for the tickets to Universal Studio was so overwhelming that their website services on purchasing the ticket had been flooded and now down. A lot of people are very eager to pay the resort a visit even though it's not fully operational but they are not mind as they are purchasing the annual pass and can come back again when it's done. Wow~ it shows how enthusiastic of them. Does Malaysia feels the same when Lego Land open on 2012? Makes me wonder.

Are You Flying Somewhere?

One of my 'avid' reader had told me that my blog seemed very quiet lately. I said it's because my life lacks drama so I can't always have so much to write about. But I will still try to have at least 2 -3 posts a week just to make it nice and simple. So what is happening these days? Traveling.

Everyone are traveling these days. Most of my gym mates had already booked or are planning for their trips for this year. I think for every month till the end of the year, there are someone from BKLTL group of members are flying around the globe. We have friends now in Taiwan for their honeymoon, another going over to Japan next month with her friends and mine to India for training and leisure. These are just some of the trips whereas there are some of us who are going to China, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Australia and New Zealand. In between all these, we (BKLTL) are in the midst of planning for our trip to Bali which I am not sure if any of us had anymore time or leave to spare. I think the main reason was that the tickets nowadays are quite cheap and affordable for everyone to fly. That is what they want you to think actually.

The reason why I said so was because I am booking for my trip to Taiwan for end of the year and found out that AA is having this promo for RM512 (inclusive of tax) two ways. I was so excited but that is not the end. As there are so many cost which are not included into the price. After including the excess baggage check in, meals, insurance and miscellaneous charges, the price are almost the same as MAS, which is close to RM700. So at the end I had booked for MAS. I am not saying whose cheating who or whose bad or good but just take note that what you see is not always what you think you will get. Look at the time, it's almost time for lunch. Singing off now

My S.H.E Concert 2010

Finally the day is here, S.H.E is the One Live in Malaysia 2010 Concert. It was my second S.H.E Concert in Malaysia. The first would be 5 or 6 years ago on their maiden tour outside Taiwan. But this time around I was bringing along my babe and my gym buddies. We arrived early and walked around checking out the tents and all before entering. Almost got my camera confiscated by the guard but we got through at the end.

The seating wasn't as we expected but the stage was really close to the seats so it wasn't all bad. But if we could be one floor down, it would really be close and I could take better pictures too. The crowded started to come in as early as 7pm and I can say that it's 99% full when the show starts. The crowds as always goes wild whenever they saw a big MPV pulling up next to the stage.

Suki and Kay (our local talents) started the show as the show starter. But the crowds really go wild when the three girls or women (now) walked up to the stage. They opened the show with Superstar which really make the whole crowd goes wild. Some futuristic meets Alice in Woderland costume for most of the songs. The selections of songs are good and their vocal control was superb. They really did improved (not saying they are bad previously but really good too) in terms of dancing and showmanship too. There were a part where they sang some other singer's songs like Ella singing Jay Chou, Selina on Fish Leong and Hebe singing Faye Wong's song. Ella as always cracked a lot of jokes on stage with Hebe being more and more sexy on the side with her dress and Selina as pretty and ladylike as she always be.

Finally, they wrapped up the last song with their first song that shoot them to stardom but I do not know how to write the title of the song in Chinese though. lolx~! So anyone, please be my guest. The show ended with a bang with a lot of glitters around 11.30pm. This is their third leg of a 6 countries tour with Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan being the last. Totally love every minute of the show. Sadly my camera's memory stick wasn't able to record the whole show. But still, I managed to record some of the memorable songs which I like. Not sure if I can post it up online since they forbid people to record it in the first place.

Correct Or Not??

The enemy of art is the absence of limitation. A friend of mine throw this sentence to me yesterday and asked me what it mean. I gave it a thought and finally concluded that it's actually contradicting or rather wrong. I mean how can you put a limitation to art as art can me limitless as far as the mind can go. I hope you do get what does the sentence or quote means in a glance. I googled it and found that it actually do exist. I mean the quote. It's by Orson Welles. If you think about it, it's a bit counter-intuitive. But finally I got what the Orson fella was really trying to say.

Let me put this in an example. If you look at it from art point of view, if a painter have a set of colors and a fix size of canvas, he would try his best to draw or portray what he is trying to say. Imagine if he has a canvas few times larger and more color, there wouldn't be a limitation to brought out the best in him in drawing the picture. Still don't get it? OK, let's say in life, it would be better to have a limit of numbers of partners you had in life rather than having lots of them. Make sense? OK, I break it down to you in a more plain and simple way. Everyone FB nowadays, and you know everyone are now busy updating each other with their status updates. Here's the catch, the developer had limit each user with a certain numbers of letters which could be type in each update. So the user must use their creativity to try to convey the message that they are trying to express. Get it? OK la, maybe this is too much for a Tuesday morning post, but I hope it make you all think. Cheers~!

iPhone 3GS Goes DIGI

Finally the iPhone is coming to Digi or any other telco other than Maxis. It's been close to a year since Maxis got their exclusive sole distributor of the phone. I got my phone on the first day it landed on shore which is 31 June last year. So I guess their contract for one year exclusivity would end around that time period. I am not saying that their (Maxis) service is bad or anything, Oh wait a minute, I am saying their service SUX big time. I think a lot of my friends and readers do agreed with me on this. The constant lost of signal and cutting off half way during a conversation or receiving a miss call even though my phone didn't even rang. I think the last problem is the most common for me. I would just sit on my table and my phone next to me and out of a sudden I received a SMS informing me that there's a miss call just a moment ago. WTF??!!!

Anyway, Digi had finally secured to be the next telco for the iPhone and I am not sure if I am able to change to other telco with my existing contract with Maxis? Their FAQ page didn't really help that much as they wasn't able to disclose much of the details and everything will need to wait until they publish the actual launch date and even that is unknown. But they did said it was on the first half of the year. You can register your email not and let them update you with any news on the iPhone. You can do that here. This is similar with Maxis when they launched the iPhone 3GS last year. Another question I had in my head would be the new iPhone 4G which is rumored to be out on the second half of the year. What would the people who bought the 3GS from Digi think when Apple launch the 4G few months after that? Anyway, nothing is concrete now, it's all just rumors and speculation. So we will just need to wait and see how the year will go. Cheers~!!
