Char Siew in Semenyih

I was looking for a good place to eat in Semenyih this afternoon while waiting for my next appointment. So I called up my mom and she told me that there is this one stall in Semenyih before the town which sell good Char Siew. It's located after Sunway Semenyih on the right hand side of the road. There is a big Bridgestone tyre shop at the corner. You can't miss it. There is only one stall selling this and you need to go further in a bit to see it.
I saw that they are selling the usual Steamed and Roasted Chicken, Duck and Pork. So I had ordered Siew Yuk + Char Siew + Roasted Chicken. My mom told me that the chicken and Char Siew is really nice. So I ordered all. haha~!!! Go figures~!!! Siew Yuk was really nice as the skin is still crunchy and sweet. The chicken is a bit stale and the Char Siew is slightly hard. Maybe cause I didn't mentioned that I wanted a bit fat on the Char Siew. But nevertheless, it's eat-able. My customer told me that, it tasted better last time compared to now. So you decide. The whole meal cost me RM5.60. Washed it down with a RM1 herbal tea. Nice~! (Rating : 3.8 out of 5.0)

Tesco Diets news on MSN

Are you getting too much exercise?
Most people worry that they're not getting enough exercise. But with the weather warming up and swimsuits on our minds, some of us might actually be overdoing it.

Extended periods of intense training can backfire, cancelling out the benefits of physical activity. So, before you get caught up aiming for an impossible fitness goal by the first day of summer, consider the pitfalls of overdosing on exercise and get a reality check on what you really need to stay fit and healthy.

Can you get too much of a good thing?
Boosting your physical activity level is an important part of any weight loss programme. But you can get too much of this good thing, exert too much effort and therefore be more susceptible to injuries and illnesses. It's known as overtraining syndrome or exercise burnout.

Although athletes and bodybuilders are most at risk, it is becoming increasingly common among recreational exercisers. Too far, too fast, too soon and unrealistic goal setting are the offenders.

For instance:

  • Trying to lose 'winter weight' by taking five aerobics classes a week, rationalizing that you'll shed pounds more quickly or
  • Pushing yourself beyond your limits
  • Feeling guilty about missing a workout and increasing your next session

Could you be overtraining?
Tactics like those listed above simply don't work. If you fail to give your body the time it needs to rest and recover from the physical stress you've placed upon it, you could be at risk for a host of problems associated with overtraining. Typical signs of overtraining are:

  • Loss of appetite
  • Extreme soreness or stiffness
  • Drop in athletic performance or a plateau despite vigorous activity
  • Injury
  • Increased susceptibility to colds and infection
  • Depression
  • Problems sleeping, despite tiredness and lethargy
  • Under-performing at work or school

Listen to your body. If you're experiencing any of the above signs of overtraining, you may need to reduce the duration of your workout, the number of sessions per week, the weights that you lift or all of these factors. Sometimes complete rest is necessary. And having to cut down or even stop your fitness plan could put weight loss on hold, defeating the purpose of having started a fitness routine in the first place.

So instead of leaping blindly into exercise, look first at what you want to achieve and how you can accomplish it in a reasonable amount of time. Once you get it right, the gains can be immense.

What should you be trying to achieve?

The answer to this question is different for everyone because the amount of exercise that will produce maximum effect varies widely among individuals. Beginners should always start slowly. More advanced exercisers should consider their goals and current level of physical activity when determining how to build up their workouts. But the bottom line for everyone: remember that the purpose of exercise is to keep the body healthy, while you're having fun.

What should you be doing?
1. Cardiovascular Activity

  • Cardio is key for helping you lose weight. The general rule is to get at least 20 minutes of cardio, 3 times a week. This can be any activity - swimming, biking, brisk walking, running or skipping - that elevates your heart rate into your training zone.
  • Spice things up. It's not a great idea to do the same workout everyday. Variety will keep things interesting and safer, since the likelihood of overtraining one particular area is reduced. Also, doing the same routine without variation can be a major factor behind poor results. If you provide the same stimulus every time, you'll adapt to it. This is a common cause of fitness and weight plateaus.
  • Give yourself a break. Intense aerobics on a daily basis is generally not advised. If you want to exercise every day, schedule in some low-intensity workouts. For example, if you usually run and cycle every day, try to take a couple of days to go for a walk or do a light swim. These recovery workouts will help you stay fresh and the cross training will help you avoid injuries.

2. Resistance training

  • Lifting weights increases your muscle mass, which in turn, helps to raise your metabolism so you burn more calories. For every pound of muscle you add, you automatically burn an extra 35 to 50 calories per day. It also helps build bone density. But the key is not to overdo it - a simple total body workout twice a week will do. Keep in mind that lifting weights will not cause fat to turn to muscle. To reveal toned muscle, you will need to shed some fat through calorie-burning cardio exercise.
  • Aim for a balance. When lifting weights, you should avoid working the same muscle group two days in a row (abdominals excluded).
  • Get adequate rest. When you perform resistance training, your muscles actually break down and become smaller and weaker. With the proper rest, these individual muscle groups grow stronger by repairing themselves. Large muscle groups, such as the pectorals (chest) or quadriceps (thighs), will need 72 hours rest, and smaller muscle groups, such as the biceps (arms) and deltoids (shoulders), need 48 hours to recover and repair themselves.

3. Stretching

  • Stretching is important because it helps prevent injury, makes you relax, increases your co-ordination and it feels good. Stretch before and after any fitness activity.

4. Rest

  • Recovery is as important as exercise. It's during your rest periods that all the good stuff happens. Your muscles grow and repair and adapt to your training, so you can work out for longer periods of time and at a higher intensity at your next workout.

To Melaka and Back

Got a thing for chicken ball rice, so I travelled down Melaka for lunch. Reached around noon and I initially wanted to try out the "so-called" Famous Farmosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant but been there, tried that. So I thought, let's get stupid and try something wacky. Head to the back road and saw this Melo Restaurant selling Char Siew and Siew Yuk. What I ordered? My favourite of course, their Char Siew and also Siew Yuk. Looked so juicy and oily. Just the way I like it. The Char Siew is slightly different from the usual that we ate. It's something like "Yuk Kon". Hard to described in here. The Siew Yuk is crunchy .. so it's good. But the rice is plain rice and not oily rice. Sux~! But they did gave me a bowl of curry gravy to add in. Sweet~!!!

Plus I ordered this minced pork ala Yong Tau Fu style. They cut it up in slices as it comes in a full round circle. Tasted nice. Washed it all down with a cup of ice herbal tea. Yummy~!!!! All for RM6.00. (Rating: 3.5 out of 5.0)

The place is located opposite the old Federal Cinema, and another place to recommend is the restaurant behind the cinema.

The place is called Hup Huat. They sell porridge and also all sort of food. But their porridge and also Wan Ton Mee is worth mentioning. The place is normally crowded during weekend's morning.

Reached P.J around 4.30pm and I was feeling a bit hungry since I got time to waste waiting for my SIL. Wanna eat something light before gym, so it's Medan Selera 223 for me. hehe~!! Ordered my usual Gerai No.6 Nasi Lemak Panas but I custom ordered the nasi lemak this time around. Washed it down with a glass of Super Kau Kau Milo Ice. Super~!!!! (Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0)

Vivo American Pizza & Panini @ The Curve

It was Sunday afternoon after my usual gym class at The Curve. Romiko and me had invited her friend, Huey for lunch and I had suggested Vivo. This is my second time visiting the place. This time around we had ordered some pasta and pizza for a change.
For drinks, me and Romiko had ordered Hot Mocha and also their Ice Cappuccino Charming. Delicious~! But I think I like my Ice Chocolate Mash mellow better.
Huey had ordered the Pomodoro Pasta. It's pure vegetarian. It's finely chopped with onions and garlic, sauteed with Vivo's special tomato herb sauce. According to Huey it's really nice. Although the dish did looked a bit plain and simple.
All of us shared this 7" Crust Oriental Chicken Pizza. According to the menu it's label as Chef's recommendation and also it's spicy. But by my opinion, it's not that spicy. But it's really good. And it's so cheesy. There is cheese everywhere. It's hot, sweet, spicy sauce with tender chicken chunks, diced cucumber and pineapples. Another recommended pizza is their Turkey BBQ Pizza.
Last but not least, my favourite and must order, their Linguine in Cabonara Sauce. One word, nice~! Cheesy too. Maybe because I added a lot of extra Parmesan Cheese on it. haha~!! It's a blend of fresh mushroom and turkey strips cooked with heavy cream and pamesan cheese. Just the way I like it.

Other foods worth mentioning are the desserts, Volcanic Chocolate with Ice Cream and their Blueberry Pizza with Ice Cream. The pasta are New Zealand's Mussels with Prawns and also Creamy Shitake Mushroom. Their pizza are Around The World and Bed of Mushrooms. (Rating : 7.5 out of 10.0)

Everybody Wants Kung Fu Fighting

Woke up quite early today as I wanted to go for Sunday morning class. But one thing lead to another and I was rushing over to TC from Kinrara around 11.05am. Arrived at TC around 11.30am. Saw Aaron in the car park and I was walking to the locker room. Saw Master T going down stairs. But all the members already in the studio waiting for him. Saw Cindy, Mark and Steven in the studio. Chatted awhile and Master T came in and started the class.

House Warming to Bday Supper

Wow what a night. I had to rushed to two places in one night for two different occasion. First, it was my hair stylist's Ben house warming. It was around 9.00pm when we arrived. The location was SS17. There were already a lot of people in his house when we arrived. Since it's my first time to his house so Romiko told me to look at his room as he had decorated and designed the stuff in it.
So this is one of the main attraction in his house. This figurine was made by him using only forks and spoons. Cool~!!

This lamp is made of Styrofoams. Neat~! Might have seem this before somewhere. But it's very creative.

Well this is definitely the main attraction in his room. This lamp cum chandelier was made out of fork and spoons also. Super~!!! Ok, so whose the guy that I had been mentioning so much? Well since he's the only guy in the pic, so you can guess who is Ben. We left around 10.30pm as we need to rushed to Sunway Mentari for another b'day party at Summer BBQ Steamboat with Romiko's friends. When we arrived they had almost finished everything as the dinner starts at 9.00pm. It's my first visit to this venue. Well it's not as good as Yuen but still OK la. I think after taxes and all, the amount is around RM20/head. Got home around half past midnight and carried up my PC up my brother's house and setting up everything. Super tired ....!!! Gym tomorrow morning so need to rest early. Well early in the morning at least. haha~!!!

Kung Fu Panda

No money for guessing what I watched yesterday night. Yes, it's Kung Fu Panda. Damn it's hilarious and fun. Cindy and Aaron invited me and Romiko for the movie this morning. Master T and Jac was joining us too. Cool~!!! The opening of the movie was really funny.
Kung Fu Panda is the story of Po, (Jack Black), a sweet, but clumsy Panda who has dreams of fighting with the legendary Furious Five and protecting the city against all threats. The only problem is that Po has no real life experience of kung fu, and his real job is serving noodles at his dad's noodles shop. News of selecting the Dragon Warrior is sent out from the Jade Temple, and the whole city along with Po, go to the celebration. The competition is between the Furious Five: Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Viper (Lucy Liu), Crane (David Cross), Monkey (Jackie Chan), and Mantis (Seth Rogen). Po accidentally enters the contest and is named the Dragon Warrior. Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) must find a way to train Po and make him a Kung Fu Master, especially, after they learn that the snow leopard, Tai Lung (Ian McShane), is headed their way. But another funny cute character in the movie was Master Oogway (Randal Duk Kim).
There were a lot of funny scenes and also jokes from all the casts but most came from Jack Black himself. Jacky Chan doesn't really have much line in this movie. It's a fun movie to watch with friends and families. So if you wanna have a laugh this weekend, why not try watching this. Money back guarantee. haha!!!
