Poker King

It was Saturday night and I was looking for any movie to watch while waiting for my babe. We had two choices being Body Snatcher the first but the seats are not that nice. So we choose Poker King at the end. Wasn't going in the cinema with any expectation for this movie as The Forbidden City Cop was totally a waste of time for me. And I was watching it at home at that time. But since it's starring both of my favorite actor Louis Koo and Lau Ching Wan so I will definitely give this movie a go. And it was a good decision too.

The story tells of Randy (Louis) who inherit his family business of casino but he is totally not capable and interested in it until he found out that his father is dead. The company is put under the supervision of Uno (Lau) who doesn't want the empire he and Randy dad had built to crumble under the hand of Randy. So he force Randy out of the company and learn the rope of life and hopefully one day he could take over the empire. So the story tells how Randy befriend with a girl name Smiley who gave him luck and the friendship finally grew into love (typical). At the end, Randy and Uno meet at the Poker King competition and we all know how the ending goes.

The story line is some what predictable but heck it's a no brainer movie and I am all in for a good laugh. And a good laugh is what I had. I laugh so hard at one point of the movie as it was really funny. Did I mentioned that Louis and Lau are both my favorite comedic actors. Their chemistry started during their first movie about bra called La-Brassier few years back. Damn, I was laughing my ass off in the cinema the same as this. Don't go in with high expectation but just for a good laugh. Laughter is the best medicine, right? (Rating: 3.8 out of 5.0)
