My Long Week

As you can see, it's been a week since my last post. Why? As always, my lack of posting would only because of work. It was really a pack week for me as I was put together with my colleague to 'babysit' my principle from India. The schedule was really pack as we start with a seminar on Monday morning and  then another two the next day before traveling up to Lumut for a seminar the next day. The resort suck in term of service big time. After the seminar we quickly packed up as we need to checked in Cherating that night. Our last seminar would be on Thursday morning at Cherating before back to KL. It was really a long drive and rush for all of us. Well at least me and my colleague drove the whole way. We had another long meeting on Friday morning for the week's seminar closing up. During lunch I'd told my marketing that the schedule was really hectic and she told me I am considered lucky. As my manager previously traveled around Malaysia the whole week for 2 seminar in one day and flew to KK the following week. They did around 12 seminars in a week. So my 3 seminar in 3 days? I close my case~!

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

I am still deciding whether to watch this movie or not when MD called me up and invited me to watched it last night. Well, there goes my doubt. Before I know it, I am queuing up at the cinema already. I first saw the preview few months back and my first thought was, cool special effects. The movie tells of 3 apprentice of Merlin, the most powerful sorcerer in the world. They are Balthazar Blake (Nicholas Cage), Veronica (Monica Bellucci) and Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Merlin was killed by Morgana le Fay (Alice Krige) as he's being betrayed by Maxim. Veronica sacrifice herself by trapping Morgana inside herself and Balthazar had no choice but to keep both of them inside a Grimhold. Maxim is too being jail in the Grimhold for a thousand years while Balthazar finds the Prime Merlinian, Merlin's successor.

A thousand year pass, and the Prime Merlinian is a guy name Dave (Jay Baruchel) who is a Physic  freak. Dave accidently freed Maxim who later got a hold of the Grimhold and freeing the Morgana one by one until the last one. In the mean time, Balthazar decided to take Dave under his wing as his apprentice when he found out that the latter is the Prime Merlinian. Final showdown at Battery Park where all the sorcerers throw out all their cards and a good showdown took place. The movie is close to 2 hours and I didn't even realize it. I had fun watching the movie although it's not the best I watched but still worth the money and time. Jay Baruchel is funny as he is in She's Out of My League. Nicholas Cage acting is good as always and you can't go wrong with a Disney movie can we? Enjoy~ !(Rating: 4 out of 5)

Comex 4.01 Jail Break

Comex had twitted few days back that he is not going to wait for Apple's iOS 4.1 and will probably be releasing the new Spirit jailbreak software soon. I am not going in details of the technical in here so I will go straight to the point. The new Spirit will be able to jailbreak iOS 4 for iPhone 3G, 3GS (for both running on new/old boot rom) and also iPhone 4. In his tweet, he had told that we will need to back up our SHSH blobs now. I had just back up mine a few minutes ago and decided to let you all know how to do it.

1) Go to download the new Umbrella firmware from their website here.
2) Read the 'read me' file in it and back up your SHSH blob file.

Why do we need to back up our SHSH blob and what is this SHSH thingy? Well, let me put this in simple English. SHSH Blobs or ECID Blobs are like I.D assigned onto our iDevice by Apple. This unique digital signature will be sent to Apple server for authentication every time you connect your iDevice to do a restore & update to a newer OS. Restore can only be done if the I.D is verified by Apple. When you update to a new firmware, this I.D will be change. So when a new firmware is out and you encountered some problem with it, you will need to restore to the previous firmware but you can't since it's already been erased. So Saurik, creator of Cydia had created a server which act as something similar to the Apple server which save our SHSH blobs and we can retrieve it to restore our firmware to the previous one. Understand? No? Just download the firmware and back-up~!

PS: Again, I would like to say that the author do not take any responsibility of any damage which might happen to it's readers hardware. So try at your own risk and please BACK UP

Malaysia International Food & Beverage Trade Fair @ PWTC

One fine morning, as I was surfing the net in the morning, a friend text me to go to this trade fair in PWTC. It is the 11th Malaysia International Food & Beverage Trade fair in PWTC. I still remembered I was one of the participants during their last exhibition. Damn, there were so much food to test and I got a sore throat just after half a day over there. So this time, I have the experience to guide me through this long journey of food wonder. Drink more water~! haha!!The first place which I visited would be the Taiwan's Pavilion or more precise Tai Chung. There were quite a number of crowd in certain booth as they are giving out free tasting to the visitors.

This is a booth which displays a lot of nice colored Korean donuts. At first glance, you would guess that the place is selling donuts, but in reality they are not. They are actually selling the cooking machine for preparing the donuts. But you can have some free tasting for the donuts of course. This is one of the most 'visited' booth around Tai Chung Pavilion. Now you know why.

This is also a good booth to visit as they are the only booth around which showcase ice cream. You can try their ice cream which I do recommend as it's not that expensive. It's only RM2/scoop with that black stuff on the top. No it's not the black pearl in your bubble tea. They have a few flavors like Vanilla, Mocha, Chocolate and Tiramisu.

This is how one scoop of their ice cream looks like. I managed to coaxed them of giving me a scoop of Tiramisu FOC. How? Aiya~ Cannot tell you la, later everyone also use my trick, spoil the market la. haha! It's really smooth and soft and that black thingy really add some texture to it. It's soft and burst when you bite on it. Very fascinating.

They have everything preserved nowadays. This booth are showing their preserved Dried To Fu, Duck Eggs, Salted Duck Eggs, Milk Eggs and Hot Spring Eggs (what the hell is this??). First bite is quite good but towards the end, it's a bit too dry for me. This is some sort like a snack while watching the idiot box I guess.

A map of Taiwan made out of ...

Nasi Lemak~ Yes, they are that creative. Don't you think Taiwan map looks something like our country?

Finally I saw a square watermelon before I die. haha~! I was very intrigued by this square shape watermelon for quite some time. Since I saw it in the internet and movies before. I thought this could only be found in Japan, but heck, nowadays, it's quite common I think. Maybe they can make a love shape watermelon next time. Now, that is something that you don't see everyday. haha~!

Overall, I spent 3 hours or so over eating, I mean testing foods and drinks. My tongue is a bit numb towards the end as I totally lost count of how many coffee I had that day. My gosh, there are so many type of local made coffee in the market. Well, not locally anyway, but exported out to oversea. So for those food lovers who wanted to try some of the overseas snacks, make a trip over PWTC this weekend. You have exhibitors from Taiwan, South Korea, South Africa, China, Singapore and some other middle east countries. Enjoy~!

RPM Marathon @ Empire

It's been a week since I did RPM Endurance, and last night I'd joined the RPM Marathon which is a 2 hours class. As usual, I did Body Step for warm up before the main event. The queue wasn't that bad compared to last week's RPM Endurance class. There were only around 10 members queuing up after the Body Step class. The RPM Marathon class is instructed by June & Stephanie last night. There were a total of 22 tracks I think. Tracks selection for the first half was a bit Deja Vu while the second half of the class seemed a bit saturated. My opinion, it was due to the track selection which was not that intense and unfamiliar. Let's be frank now, RPM stands for Riding with Powerful Music, and when there's no Powerful Music, there's no fun in it. I sweat quite a lot during the first half and my puddle of sweat dried up during the second half. There were some good tracks towards the end like California Dreaming, Summer Rain & Heaven but it's a bit too late towards the end. I think some of the other hardcore members agreed with me after the class too. Anyhow, it was a good experience and the  instructors gave us their best and I admire that. Gonna ride with Mickey Mouse and Herny tonight at Uptown for the RPM Marathon again (hopefully) and looking forward for next week's RPM Ironman at The Curve.

Back Online

As I mentioned earlier last week, my desktop suddenly failed on me one night. I'd suspected that it's either the main board or hard disk which caused the problem. After passing my CPU to my cousin to checked, he had confirmed that it's my main board issue. He found that there's some corrosion and burned mark in some parts of the board. I guess it's due to the flood which happened during my stay at SS2 previously. Some water or moisture had sipped in and corroded my board slowly. So I had changed a new main board and everything is fine. Thinking of adding another 500GB HDD for back up since the price are so darn cheap nowadays.

Since he's installing the new board, he helped me to upgrade my OS to Windows 7 which is so cool. Yes, I only just started using the new OS now. Solve the main board issue and now back to my back ups. All my musics and back up files for my phones are running under Vista and it's unable to boot now. But luckily I can still access the file from the new OS. Exporting or migrating the old back up files to the new iTunes is damn messy. Songs are overlapping and jumbled up. Sigh~! Spent whole night arranging everything and creating the playlists again.

Plants Vs. Zombie

Found another new (not really) game to share with you all on your iDevice (iPhone or iPod). It's called Plants Vs. Zombie. The game was out some months ago by PopCap Games, but I didn't give it much thought as I am not so into strategy/defense kind of game. But decided to give it a try last weekend. So I downloaded it and started experimenting with it. To my surprised, I am hooked onto it nowadays.

The game is simple, defend your house from the invading zombies. The battle field would be your lawn and you have to defend it from the infesting zombies. Your weapons of defend would be plants. Yes, you heard me right. It's the green whose gonna save you from being eaten by the zombies.

You started off with the standard Peashooters to defend you from the zombies. You need sunlight to plant seeds and you can also plant sun flowers to get more sunlight. As you can see from above, these are some of the many (44) plants (weapons) which I had unlocked so far.

You have your regular garden zombie which is low in defense to the buckethead zombie to the MJ like zombie which will summon zombies direct from the ground. The game keeps you up your wits with all the new plants and zombies being thrown at you every single level. Where different type of environment (night or day) and zombie, you will need different type of weapons to fend them off. Another challenge would be the limited slots which you can equip your weapons in each round which is 7. So think carefully and plan your strategy wisely.

This is one of the bonus round which you can see, I had planted plenty of triple peashooters and Tall-Nut to defend myself from the ice cart zombie. The game is very intense to some level which let you think and challenge yourself to outsmart the zombies. Remember to soil your plants or the zombies gonna eat your brains out when they reach your house. Good luck and have fun~! (Rating: 4 out of 5)

RPM Endurance @ Empire

I was doing my usual Body Step class at 5.45pm when I saw some members had already started queuing up for the RPM Endurance class. So what's the fuss about? The class doesn't start till 7.40pm. That is 2 hours wait. By the time I finished Body Step, I'd decided to skip Body Pump class as the queue is getting longer by the minutes. Mine was already 13 and there's only 19 bikes in the class tonight. Luckily for someone, she got the last bike. Was really looking forward for this Endurance class as the theme would be Tour De France. The class is being lead by Brian & Fong. Both of them came in with full gear including the outdoor helmet, sunglasses and even backpack. Overall track selection is really good. As you know it's a 14 track (not inclusive of cool down) class and both track selection and motivation are very  crucial. And both of them managed to give us that. Had a taste of an hour and a half class and I think next week's RPM Marathon shouldn't be any problem. But sadly I couldn't join the week after RPM Ironman at The Curve. Sigh~!

RPM Madness

I was informed tonight by June that there's gonna be a RPM theme classes going on this month. Well this is not you're usual superstar or superheroes theme class but rather endurance. Starting from tomorrow night at Empire, Brian & Fong will be doing the RPM Endurance which is about 1 hour and a half with additional 4 tracks, if I am not mistaken. I will definitely be joining tomorrow's RPM Endurance but not sure I am wanna push myself by joining Prudent's BS and Gino's BP class beforehand as usual. RPM Endurance is just the warm up as next week Wednesday, June & Joe will be doing the RPM Marathon which will last for 2 hours which consists of 22 tracks, I think. That I have to join too. I think I can still survive through this. If you think RPM Marathon is gonna KILL you then think again as on the 27th July at The Curve, Lilian & June is gonna present to us Ironman RPM. 3 hours of solid in door cycling workout. She mentioned that there's a lot of track 5 & 7 repetition and that's gonna kill us all. But sadly I won't be able to join as I am away during that week. Dang~~!!!

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Why am I posting review for a chick flick? Well, as I mentioned previously on my review in New Moon, the movie gets better with each episode and not so much on the mushy stuff. The third installment of the Twilight Saga is called, Eclipse. The movie takes off where it left in New Moon. Bella "indecisive" Swan (Kristen Stewart) continues her relationship with Edward "super pale" Cullen (Robert Pattinson) after surviving the trial with the Volturi. Jacob "boy on steroid" Black (Taylor Lautner) began to stay away from Bella after the meet in the forest but the latter still hold some feelings for him even though she doesn't admits it.

In another place, Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) is gathering new bloods or vampires as armies to eliminates the Cullen's clan. The clan is lead by a guy name Riley (Xavier Samuel) who is being manipulated by Victoria to kill the Cullen's clan. The Volturi, lead by Jane (Dakota Fanning) know about this but didn't do anything to stop them. This time around, the movie also tells more of the story behind Alice, Jasper and Rosaline of the Cullen families. It also tells the legend behind the werewolf clan and how it started the war with the vampires.

I'll let you watch the ending and trust me there's plenty of drama and funny scenes too in the movie. For instance, I was laughing hard during one scene where Bella and Edward came out from their car to meet Jacob who is standing by his car topless (showing his 6 packs AGAIN!). And Edward goes, "Doesn't he has a shirt to wear?" I'd always wanted to ask that question since New Moon. I will let you watch it by yourself and decide if it's a good movie or not. (Rating: 4 out of 5)

Do You Wanna Hear Something Scary?

I was at the gym tonight when K-Bear walked over and asked me, "Wanna hear something scary?". "You tried to commit suicide is it?", I replied. Haha~! So she start explaining her "theory" to me and after hearing it, I asked her, "Do you REALLY wanna hear something scary?". It's about what I had for dinner during my trip down South these 3 days. For the first night I went over Shih Lin (the Taiwan snack) and ordered one XXL Crispy Chicken, Oyster Mee Sua and a bottle of mineral. I ordered additional rice box set with another bottle of V Soy for supper. Not too scary right? Well I am just getting warm up on my first night. On the second night, I went over KFC and ordered their Deluxe set which consist of a piece of fried chicken (thigh) and a Zinger burger with fries on the side. In addition I ordered another Zinger, the new Pocket of Sunshine and Cheesy Wedges to take back to the hotel for supper. Now tell me if that's NOT scary!! And for lunch today, I ordered two chicken deluxe burger from A&W with curly fries and root beer. I think I can stay away from fast food for a month now.

The Karate Kid

I know that the movie is not a new one and had been in the cinema for quite some time but I just don't have the time to watch it these days. Finally I decided to watched it last weekend with my gym mates. I am contemplating whether to watch The Karate Kid or A-Team and decided to go with the first one since it's recommended by my friends. And it's not as bad as I thought. Since it's a remake of the original 1984 with the same title, I am not giving it so much expectation. The movie is more than 2 hours and I can say that I did enjoyed the whole 2 hours of it. Since I had watched the original movie a few times so the story line, plot and even some of the lines are the same.

The movie started off with a kid called Dre (Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith) who moved from Detroit with his mom Sherry Parker (Taraji Henson) to China. As always new kid on the block fall in love with the sweet china doll, Mei Ying and got himself into a fight on the first day they arrive. Dre started being bullied around by the local kid called Cheng. So he blamed his mother for bringing him over to this alien place where he got no friends and being bullied all the time. So during one confrontation with Cheng and his posse, Dre is save by Mr. Han (Jacky Chan) the janitor. He decided to teach Dre Kung Fu as he believe that Dre need to face them in a tournament so that they will stop bullying him. So the story tells how he is train and how he eventually kick Cheng's ass.

The whole plot is exactly the same as the original one but the first moved to Los Angeles and being bullied by the school bullies. Even the part where the master of the bad guys shouted the same line. It's not half bad seeing movie but if you watched the original movie, it's a bit deja vu for me. Jaden Smith gave a good performance in the movie and Jacky as always being himself with the witty moves and all (typical). It's a nice movie to watch and don't expect anything spectacular in the movie but just enjoy where the movie takes you. (Rating: 4 out of 5)

Lost & Found

FARK!!! (I always wanted to start a story with that word) Where's my key? I am frantically searching for my locker key everywhere. You must wondering WTF is this story coming from. So lets rewind back half and hour. I had just bathed and dry my hair and walked out of the locker room. Sat on my usual spot outside the RPM studio waiting for the class to start. Well OK, it's like 2 more hours before the class start but I got time. So I was playing around with the new game I had just downloaded for almost 30 minutes when I realized that I can't find my locker key. I search underneath the chair, locker and the gym but it's no where to be found. I saw my lockers (2 in fact) are still lock.

So I decided to try my luck and go to the front desk to ask if anyone found my key. To my surprised, they did found my key. Why am I worried? Well, there's close to a thousand cash in my wallet and not to mentioned a couple of credit cards and also my driving license and identification card in it. My car key is in the locker too. Damn it~! So I quickly walk over to the locker and open it. Checked my wallet and keys. Everything are still intact. Oh, I am so glad at that moment. I walked over to thank the cleaner who found my key. It was so kind of him to return the key and all. I mean if some body else who found the key, they might go through my locker and took whatever valuable in it.

Then I realized something. My locker key is a bit 'cacat'. The tag number that come with the key had already been broken. So they had no way of finding out which locker does this key belongs to. It's a bit obvious if that someone try every single locker in the changing room. So it left me thinking, what if? But I still give the benefit of the doubt to the cleaner. But later that night, a member told me she lost her diamond necklace the other night some where in the gym but she only realized it when she reached home. And she only bought it for 3 months only. Ouch~! That is sad!

My Kitchen Cabinet

Sorry for the lack of updates lately as I am busy running around town looking for kitchen cabinet contractors. Been searching around town for some idea for my kitchen. So last week me and babe went over to this shop in Bandar Puteri and the sales staff was quite friendly too. They supply kitchen cabinets and also wardrobe too. But I am more focused on my kitchen cabinet for now. I have another 2 more weeks before getting my keys back from the developer after the rectification works. Hopefully nothing more to be 'rectify' after the first inspection. Or else, I will need to wait a couple more weeks before starting my renovation work. Back to the kitchen cabinet now.

So this is the initial ID proposed by the designer. I am quite satisfied with the design and she did explained to me the varies type of material and I too managed to forgot most of what she explained. haha~! I think I need to jot it down next time when I go over again. But she did gave me a quotation on various type of material being Acrylic the most expensive and then Nyatoh and I decided to go with something called Orion Panel or TAK or AVL (whatever that means). It's better than 3G and ABS according to her. But she did show all the material and rest assured me that they are particular in quality. Duh~! The whole kitchen will cost me RM15K with solid surface top inclusive of the island and also all the imported accessories (hinges and soft stopper). Now going to ask for second opinion like Kian Classic and other shops for price comparison.

This is a picture from their website and this is what I am going for with a white top and black bottom cabinet with an island in the middle. Hopefully it won't deviate much from this. Even the hood, hob and oven will cost me a bundle not to mention the blardy basin for the wet kitchen. But as they all said, if you wanna go, better do it one shot. But 'one shot' cost a lot of money la. haha~!
